Official Release:
BUILT TO THRILL 2022 STREET PERFORMANCE F-150 CONCEPT
It was nearly 20 years ago the 2002 Harley-Davidson Ford F-150 burst on the scene with a supercharged V8 that could yank one down the road to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds. With 340-horsepower (hp), an earth-rumbling exhaust and accents that conveyed its namesake, it was (for its time) a re-defining entry into the performance street truck marketplace.
Fast-forward to Ford Performance Parts’ 2022 Street Performance F-150 – a concept build showcased at the 2021 SEMA show – and it’s inspiring (to any truck enthusiast, at least) to see just how far that marketplace as evolved.
While not officially deemed a generational offspring of the blower-enabled Harley F-150, the F-150 Performance Street concept might as well be – it is a beautiful supercharged beast that’s dressed (and calibrated) to thrill.
The concept — built off a 2022 Ford F-150 Lariat Sport carrying a 5.0L V8 Coyote engine – was developed with help from the likes of Brembo, Borla, and others. It’s packed with a bevy of high-performance goodies, not the least of which is Ford Performance’s soon-to-come 2021 F-150 Supercharger Kit for the Coyote 5.0 powerplant (expected in 2022).
The supercharger kit pays large power dividends in the forms of 700-hp and 590 pound-feet of torque – good enough to push the performance concept pickup from 0-to-60 mph in less than five seconds (estimated). A 2021 Ford F-150 Cat-Back Exhaust System from Borla contributes to the numbers, is performance-audible-tuned via optimized pipes, and dons 4” black-finished tips.
Of course, all that generated inertia requires big-time stopping power and pedal feel, hence the concept brakes from the performance gurus at Brembo. The concept discs and calipers (blue) were developed specially for the vehicle, aptly fill the wheels and clearly convey the concept’s performance intension(s).
Concept 22” by 9” six-spoke premium-finished wheels work in concert with an “in development” 2021 F-150 lowering kit from Ford Performance Parts for a true sport-proportional truck stance (let’s term it “sophisticatedly slammed”). Add in the 2021/22 F-150 Black Appearance Package from Ford Performance Parts (M-F150-BP20), and this truck undeniably cut for modern-day street performance.
Its forefather(s) would be proud.
