The refreshed 2018 and 2019 Mustang has been a huge hit with not just Ford fans, but car guys in general. It’s revised styling, bump in horsepower and increases in overall performance makes the 2019 Mustang GT a winner. Toss in the availability of a Bullitt Edition, updated GT350/R and a new GT500 just around the corner, and the Mustang is hotter than ever!
But what if you don’t want to shell out the cash for a Bullitt, GT350 or the inevitably pricey upcoming GT500? What if you feel that the standard GT is great, but you still want something a little more exclusive and track-focused? Luckily, there’s the Performance Pack that provides additional performance attributes that are both feasible, and functional.
Our friends at CJ Pony Parts take a closer, first-hand look at the 2019 Mustang GT PP2 in this clip, that spotlights all of the specific, unique features of the Performance Pack 2 (PP2). From the Brembo brakes, to the chin spoiler and rear deck spoiler as well as the MagRide suspension tweaks, it lends a prestige of a street-going, very trackable pony car. Toss in massive rollers that are equipped with the fabled Mischelin Pilot Sport2 tires at all four corners, and this thing will stick to the tarmac like no other!
However, our host Bill does mention that if you’re looking for a user-friendly, daily driver you’d best order this car — and pick up a set of standard GT wheels with a more all-season compound — as the Pilot2s are a “little much” for daily use. The PP2 is an excellent reflection of what it means to be a 21st century any car, and Ford doesn’t disappoint with this one!
