It’s hard to believe, but we’re quickly approaching five years since the tragic death of Fast and Furious film star, Paul Walker. Having lost his life in the passenger seat of a Porsche 918 just after Thanksgiving 2013, the emotions that followed from fans were immense. Many Millennials and older Gen-Z enthsuats often site Paul Walker as the reason for getting into cars in the first place.
Fast-forward to the Summer of 2018, and Paul’s brother who filled in for him in the seventh film, is featured in a recent episode of Jay Leno’s Garage, alongside a JDM-spec ’93 Supra that’s just arrived on our shores. The reason for Cody’s visit was twofold; first, he wanted to promote his local car show that was for charity in honor of his brother, and to discuss one of his brother’s favorite cars, the Mk. IV twin-turbo Supra.
Jay, being well-hearsed in just about everything car, did seem a little out of his element when it came to the boosted Toyota; from the basic specs to some of the Supra-specific intricacies. Cody helped a little, but it was somewhat humorous seeing Mr. Leno seemingly more than a little miffed at the right-hand drive Toyota.
But truth be told, this video wasn’t obviously intended to be a nut-and-bolts, inside-and-out overview, it was just a way to carry on Paul Walker’s legacy and hear more from his youngest sibling. Plus, we get a closer look at this particular JDM Supra, and that makes it worth the watch
We’re sure Paul would have approved, too.
