On a recent episode of Combustion Chamber, they celebrate American muscle car goodness with a rare, one-of-one Mustang Roush. This 2004 Stage 2 Roush Mustang is the only of its kind, thanks to the special color it was made in, in addition to it being a convertible with a shaker hood. This car is also a very clean example of the 40th Anniversary cars as well.
The Roush package was first offered on Mustangs in 1999, and included some appearance and performance upgrades that has the Mustang community lovestruck from the start. Since 2004 was the final year of the SN95 body style, it would also mean the final year we’d see the Roush package on this body style. For this year, the Rousch Stage 2 package was mainly a suspension and appearance upgrade. This Mustang was given the ground effects package and styling of the Stage 1 Roush, plus the handling package, and custom orange and black interior with special gauges.
Ken Wear is only one member of his family who loves Mustangs. His wife obsessed with the Mustang growing up, and had wanted to own one since she was a kid. Mom and dad’s obsession eventually led to their daughter getting into Mustangs, and wanted to go to car shows with her parents. Now in her 20s, Ken’s daughter has been going to car events with them since she was 5-years-old. She is now getting to the point where she’s picking out the cars she wants when she’s old enough to buy one of her very own.
The family has actually been fortunate enough to own three special edition Mustangs. They have owned a Mach 1 and California Special, in addition to their Roush. However, when they take this Roush to a car show, people don’t always know how unique it really is, which just gives Ken and his family more opportunity to talk with other enthusiasts about his one-of-one pony car.
