Jeep’s SRT Trackhawk is probably the most impressive SUV on the market, at least from the States. Packing the same 707hp HEMI mill the you would find in the Charger and Challenger Hellcat models, the sky is the limit for its potential.
It seemed to have taken the aftermarket forever to get a stronghold on HEMI tuning capabilities, and even basic components were hard to come by for the first several years of the engine platform being on the market. Once Mopar unleashed the 6.2L supercharged Hellcat variant, that’s when the floodgates started to open for these vehicles.
Naturally, this carried over to Jeep’s own SRT Grand Cherokee, now known as the TrackHawk. Packing the same exact drivetrain, with the same output, the sheer performance the SUV puts out is mind-blowing. Factor in the fact that although there’s a weight penalty over the LX cars it shares its engine with, the TrackHawk is also equipped with a sophisticated all-wheel drive system.
This makes it the perfect all-weather weapon, but if you’re looking for the capability to throw on a set of slicks and skinnies for the drag strip, then you’re at a disadvantage. Or are you?
As it turns out, that disabling the factory’s AWD system isn’t so complicated. No tuning required, and you need not break out the tool set. Nope, all you need to do is pop open the hood, access the fuse box panel and pull the fuse for the AWD system. That’s it. You’ll get a Stability Control notification light, naturally, but you’ll be able to do burnouts for days.
