Drifting a Mustang Around the ‘Ring
The 12.9-mile Nordschleife at the Nurburgring has been a staple in Germany for decades. Once used for Formula 1 racing early in its life, the track has since be relegated to various forms of competition, testing and even used a public roads. Lap times from racers and manufactures alike have been set there, and for the last 15 years, most manufacturers use it to test and dial-in their latest performance offerings.
Among some of the current fastest lap times are several Ford vehicles, including the GT, Fiesta ST and several Focus RS and ST models. Oddly enough, we have yet to see the Mustang on the list, until now. Looking to not only put a ‘Stang on the ‘Ring, Vaughn Gittin Jr. puts his 900hp RTR Mustang through the corners — mostly sideways.
In typical Grand Gittin style, there’s plenty of tire smoke, V8 engine growls and tire marks left in his wake. The Coyote under the hood cranks out near as make no difference, 900hp and nearly the same out of torque. Factor in the extreme diet the S550 Mustang had to endure to make it slide about in the way that it does, and there’s no wonder why it manages to pull off the stunt.
With each video Vaughn Gittin Jr. makes for us, the more crazy and insane they become. What will he do next? Nobody knows for certain but we’ll be there when it happens!
