The Nissan 240SX is one of the most popular cars in the import tuner crowd. People love this compact sports car because it is an affordable rear wheel drive turbo car, and they’ve always been pretty cheap to modify. Because of this, they have developed somewhat of a cult following over the years. Some might say that this particular build is awesome, but some purists might hate it, either way, it’s a very unique build.
Even though it’s not running the stock engine, this build still maintains some of the great things about the Nissan 240SX — like how light it is, the fact that it’s rear wheel drive, and so on. Building on that foundation and then adding an ultra powerful LS engine could make this Nissan 240SX the baddest thing on any track.
Blane Burnett talked about his Nissan at Holley’s LS Fest. Blane is actually an employee at Holley who had been working on this build for several years, pretty much since he started working at Holley. The turbocharged four-cylinder engine was taken out and an LS2 from a GTO went into its place. Backing the engine is a rebuilt T56 engine, and the powertrain has a slew of supporting modifications.
One of the most recent modifications has been upgrading the electronics with the help of Racepak. The Racepak Smartwire and IQ3 Street Dash has allowed the 1996 Nissan 240SX to have upgraded components to match the car’s modern engine and transmission. This system allows Blane to keep the car street orientated and helps to support the mostly aftermarket car.
Just like with the Holley EFI system, the Racepack Smartwire and Street Dash can grow with you as a race, and allows you to integrate more components as you add them. You basically just have to add the supporting wiring from the added components.
