The automotive community has seen a long list of favored events being shut down or cancelled due to this ongoing pandemic but it seems that there is only so much that gearheads can take. A quick search on YouTube proves that one event that people seem to have deemed worth the risk is Holley MoParty 2020. The celebration of anything and everything Mopar powered took place on September 18-20, 2020 at the Beech Bend Raceway Park in Kentucky. It featured an incredible list of events, contests, and a swap meet. The General Lee even made an appearance with stunt driver James Smith behind the wheel.
In usual Holley fashion, film crews gave Mopar lovers that were not fortunate enough to be there a close up look at some of the coolest cars in attendance. One such car was Murfreesboro, Tennessee resident Eric Funk’s 1971 Dodge Dart Swinger that is said to have a blistering 1,700-horsepower. Though it is clearly built for drag racing, it is still a reliable street car as well.
Under the hood is a 392ci Mopar V8 adorned with Brodix cylinder heads and a pair of Precision Turbo 76mm turbos. The setup makes good use of a Holley Dominator ECU, SmartWire, and a host of Holley gauges. Speaking to the quality of the Holley electrical system, Funk says, “One car I own that never has any electric glitches, electrical problems. I can get in it and it’s the most reliable car I got.”
The interior is a little bare for a “street car” though. It features a pair of racing seats and probably one of the more extensive roll cage setups. Although it does have the stock dash and stock looking door panels and the headlights and horn are in working, judging by the videos of it launching, this beast probably feels more at home while on the track.
