In the last few years, we’re seeing more and more LS-swapped third-generation F-body cars go under the knife, for more modern powerplants. Namely, the LS-series engines that have been standard fair in most performance vehicles from GM since the late 1990s.
It’s not just a few gearheads here and there doing the swaps, it’s quickly becoming more common to see these cars with an LS-series engine under the hood, then without. No matter your opinion on the matter, there’s no denying the fact that it simply just works, when done correctly
However, for every completed car out there, there’s five more going under the knife by someone who may not know the entire process, soup to nuts, and may need some additional help sourcing the parts they need to complete their build. Luckily, there are several outfits that you can source great hardware from, including our friends at Hawks Motorsports in Easley, South Carolina.
They know third-gens better than just about anyone out there, and have complied several different kits over the years, including the one in Project Redrum, that makes life easier. They’ve recently put together an LSX Swap Mounting Kit for all 1982-1992 Camaros and Firebirds.
