MAK Performance’s 2018 Mustang GT has had enthusiasts on the edge of their seats, just waiting for it to drop into the single-digit range, because we knew it was coming. It was the first 2018 Mustang GT, besides the ones in the ProCharger shop, to get a P-1X blower setup. The ProCharger supercharger, along with a host of supporting modifications and tuning, has given the pony car the power the run into the record books with the first 2018 Mustang GT 9-second pass in the quarter mile at the Palm Beach International Raceway in Jupiter, FL.
The MAK Performance 2018 Mustang GT puts 846 horsepower to the rear wheels to reach this monumental milestone. Even though it’s broken a new barrier, the team is confident that the setup still has a lot left in it as they are working on refining the calibration of the car’s 10-speed automatic transmission.
Under the hood, the big powerhouse of the build is the E85 ProCharger Coyote friendly HO kit with P-1X supercharger running about 10-psi. This kit provides a great boost curve that doesn’t sharply drop off at the top end. Supporting modifications include:
- DeatschWerks 1,000cc port fuel injectors and DW400 fuel pump
- JMS FuelMax fuel pump voltage booster
- MAK cat-delete pipes
- Torsen differential
- UPR oil separator
- BMR Suspension lowering springs
- JMS 17” drag wheels
- Mickey Thompson tires
Next up for the car is a dual-pump fuel system and different torque converter to run a lower 9-second pass. It’s also important to the team to keep the car completely streetable. One of the coolest parts of this build is that the car was driven three hours to and from the track to set the record, this is no track queen, it’s a certified street car.
Official Passes:
9.92@142 = HO Kit – STG2 Intercooler – P1X Head Unit – 10psi – E85
10.30@138 = HO Kit – STG2 Intercooler – P1X Head Unit – 8psi – Pump Gas
