VIDEO: Hennessey Performance Takes Delivery of a 2018 Ford GT ’67 Heritage Edition

The 2018 Ford GT is 3000 pounds of pure and uncut, unadulterated, in-your-face awesome. The designers at Ford did a magnificent job of designing an up-to-date, modern version of the original GT40 without losing the essence and history that has been with the car since its inception. Hennessey Performance, on the other hand, while not as old and experienced as Ford Motor Company, has proven themselves time and time again to be master car designers and builders in their own right. Thus, it seemed only fitting that when Team Hennessey took delivery of their 2018 Ford GT, that it was the ’67 Heritage Edition.

If you’re not familiar with it, we talked about this special edition in a previous story. In a nutshell, the Heritage Edition pays homage to the GT40s that won Le Mans in 1967. Hennessey’s GT is Race Red with white livery, a throwback to Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt’s Ford GT40 MKIV that won Le Mans in 1967.

As you can see in the video, the GT was delivered to Hennessey’s shop by Ford, and they even sent a product specialist to familiarize John and the team with the car and all of the extras that came with it, including build photos, window sticker (with an image of the car itself), and two car covers (indoor and outdoor) that come in their own custom bags! Ford definitely rolls out the red carpet treatment for new GT owners—and they should!

So, could that mean that we should expect some aftermarket performance pieces for the GT? That’s unclear as of now. As a smart businessman, it’s doubtful that John Hennessey will tip his hand too early, not to mention that this car is extremely rare, right off the showroom floor.

However, judging from the history of the company, we’re willing to bet that we’ll see SOMETHING from Hennessey for the GT; whether it’s a mere tune, hardware, or a complete package, we just can’t see Team Hennessey keeping their hands off of this hot commodity! If you’re familiar with the Hennessey Venom cars, it’s evident that they’re familiar with super cars. If they do design a package, you can best bet that it’ll be something completely new and innovative—and super fast!
