The Tuning School teaches people the basics to mastery of tuning Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) systems. They offer this world class hands on training on how to tune your vehicle, but also how to navigate common tuning software and issues users might run into with the platforms.
One of the most commonly used tuning software programs out there is HP Tuners. This platform is a top choice for tuning shops and at-home tuners around the world. In this tech Tuesday video that addresses issues you might run into while using HP Tuners, the experts from The Tuning School explain how to use the HP Tuners auto save feature to find a log that was not saved.
This scenario has come up with anyone who has done tuning for any amount of time, and it’s not always the fault of the user — the laptop might die, the software might crash, there’s a number of scenarios that can happen that are out of control of the user. If this happens in the middle of a tune, it can be extremely frustrating for the user since they think they have just lost all of their information.
There’s a feature that HP Tuners has built in that will save your butt in this scenario — the autosave feature. To pull this information, you need to go into the HP Tuners document file on your computer, open this folder and then the folder named VCM Scanner. This will give you a view of various folders where you will need to locate the one labeled Logs. Scans in this folder will be listed in a chronological order with a date and time stamp. All you have to do from this point is locate the correct date and time of your scan, and it will pull up the last autosaved log. It’s as easy as that!
